Rely on our consultants to bring a fresh perspective, informed recommendations and imaginative solutions.

Use the following as a guide to get exactly what you've envisioned. This series is intended to aid you in specifying Spacia custom art. We'll break down the basics, first things first, framing & fitting, hanging, and substrates & such.

Part 2: First Things First

It's important to remember that everything we do is tailored to you and your project, with pricing based on your completed specifications. We understand that finalized specs may not always be available from the start, but providing as much detail as possible helps ensure we’re all on the same page. And of course, there’s always room for flexibility as your project evolves.

REQUESTING AN ART PACKAGE

When requesting an art package for your project, sharing the following with our team isn't required, but oh so helpful—

  • Design/Color Boards
  • Art Style/Narrative
  • Brand and/or Scheme (typically hospitality projects)
  • Approximate Number of Images
  • Public Space (PSA) or Guestroom (GRA) or both

Additional vocabulary...

Outside Measurement/Outside Dimension (O.D.): The amount of physical space the frame/artwork will take up on the wall. In other words, the artwork size + matting or borders + moulding/frame width. A standard industry-wide practice is to always list width before height.

TIP—It's common practice to start with the desired O.D. and work backwards for the other sizes (mats, moulding, etc.). When discrepancies occur, the O.D. is top priority.

Substrate: Any surface or material on which printing is done. Substrate bases include paper, wood, metal, and vinyl to name a few. More on substrates to come.
