Pantone's Color of the Year 2025

Our Art Team's Reaction to Mocha Mousse

Pantone's highly anticipated Color of the Year has been announced—and our art team reacts.

But first, what's all the fuss about?

Each year, Pantone, the global authority on color, selects a tone that it believes will reflect the prevailing mood, cultural trends, and societal shifts in the coming year. This color selection is significant, inspiring professionals and consumers alike to integrate the color into their own work and lifestyle. From interiors and fashion to branding and product design, this announcement's influence is far and wide.

As a company who creates custom art, we know that color plays a crucial role in all aspects of design. We're excited to explore how Mocha Mousse will fuel new collections, spark creativity and offer fresh opportunities for our clients to achieve memorable, unique spaces.

Mocha Mousse

Connection, Comfort & Harmony.

The Pantone Color Institute selects PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse, a warming, brown hue imbued with richness.

Delve Deeper

Art Consultant Nellie Siegel's first reaction, "Oh dear, this is not a color at all!"

But as she reads more into the discovery process, "I can see how this smooth, calming neutral could be comforting, and I do like coffee—and chocolate—and mousse!

She continues, "The Pantone color palettes that show how this neutral can pair with other brighter tones are pleasing. Further research may be required. I am inspired to look up some mousse recipes and whip something up so I can really get the bottom of this matter." (Licks spoon)

Art Consultant Shannon Kemplin has really been into neutrals lately, "But Mocha Mousse is like the rich, sophisticated aunt of the family."

She goes on to say, "Pantone 17-1230 has the potential of elevating earthtones or complimenting many color palettes. I love the warm, smooth hue that speaks classic, chic and indulgence. This chocolate tone gives me a different perception of the once dull brown family—it takes brown from boring to luxe!"

"Pantone's color of the year, Mocha Mousse, falls in line with the trend of featuring earth tones in our interior spaces," states Art Director Tricia Biagi.

She also recognizes the relationship between color and culture, "The design community is responding to the stress of our rapidly changing world by incorporating calming neutrals, like Mocha Mousse, and biophilia (bringing nature inside) to relax and soothe our surroundings."

Regardless of our take—or your thoughts—one thing is certain: the tone sets the tone. This color is more than just a passing trend; it's a lens through which we catch a glimpse of the cultural mood and direction of the world at a given moment.

But we do want your take. What do you think of Mocha Mousse?
